Scientists
involved in research related to numerical prediction methods often
encounter the challenge of trying to verify results, measured or
predicted, and repeat algorithms presented in papers by others. In
response to this shortcoming an interesting new initiative has emerged
to improve the situation, called "executable papers". The idea is to
establish a link between published results and calculation results
offering the possibility include the software implementation that
generated the results. More can be read on this exciting new initiative
and the prizes on offer at the web-page page http://www.executablepapers.com/
. Organized by the publishing house Elsevier the results will be
broadcast to a wide international audience. Since the initiative is in
the form of a competition, anyone can submit proposed formats, methods
and algorithms.
Initiatives exist within the EAA as well, proposals for numerical
challenges and verification are under consideration : comments or
suggestions to TC Computational Acoustics Chairmen are most welcome.
